87thEng > Top left to right: PFC Ray Jenny, combat engineer who loved heavy equipment.......this assignment was to live and stay in a village to be a liaison between the Army and the confused South Vietnamese. At one point in my tour, I returned to base camp to help build barracks, running the front end loaded(3rd pic from left) which would eventually turn my life upside down.........I turned the loader onto its side while working a gravel pit......backed into a gully that was not there the previous day.....spent 8 hours in surgery, three comas, paralysis , and server internal injuries,,,,,,still struggling somewhat......I was 21, am 58 now.......
2nd row left........had a crush on this gal while SGt Knight and I stay out at this village...nothing much to do all day but mingle with the locals..........Next photo is Crawford......fun guy to be with, good guy.........3rd row......left.........Can't remember the guy crouching, but again, locals.......Would like to know what happened to Gary Harden, he was a good friend, we did KP duty the whole way over from the states aboard the Pope,,,,I guess we were a little wise, so that was a good place to put us, down and away from everybody, LOL......3 weeks on that ship,,,,whew........never got sick, but most everyone else was throwing up...........
I spent a year in hospitals,,,,,released, crippled, no direction, no good feeling about the war cause it was not supported in this country.......then a horrific car accident, 3rd degree burns over 30% of my body,,,,,,,2 yrs in the hospital and nerver wanted to get back into society, scared, crippled, disfigured, etc........

Finally the VA got me into some Junior college, I was totally uncomfortable, but after a month or so, got use to it and slowly felt accepted and then had some confidence to move out beyond that circle.........from there and beyond I moved forward with life, completed college, met, married, had two girls, started a business, got lucky and did pretty good.....
Today, 58 yrs old, walk with a brace on the leg, use a cane, and carry a 7 hcp at the golf course(never played before the accident).
Activities include, golf, motorcycle, boating, RVing, NASCAR, and happy hour(lol)........Like a 5 o'clock Vodka once in a while...........
I took a lot of slides, but have not converted them to photos to scan and send...........If anyone wants to write, please do so.........
E mail. .......yyzazz@aol.com..........and I live in the Orlando area..........Ray Jenny, 1795 Golf Garden Way, Apopka, Fl. 32712

PS, I think if you right click the photo, you can then "preview" and then enlarge each photo........these are not bad photos considering they are 34 years old.........take care, Ray
